Welcome to Tromsø climbing gym.
Our gym is placed at Templarheimvegen 35, in the same building nad same entrance as Tromsøbadet. People of all ages can come and climb with us. You don't need any prior knowledge to climb, and our staff will help you get started.
You can visit us as a drop-in customer and it is possible to rent a harness and climbing shoes.

Anyone who wants to buy a ticket card, season pass, or subscription must register as a user at Tromsø Klatresenter AS. You will then get a separate user profile in our customer register where you can see information about your purchases and make purchases. When you register as a user, you must also accept our membership and subscription terms. Registrer your user here.
Autobelay
Tromsø climbing gym has automatic belay machines that allow you to climb without a belay card and climbing partner. Then you have the opportunity to get to the top of our walls even if you have no previous climbing experience. All you need is a short training from one of our employees, and you're good to go!
Belay card (Brattkort)
In order to belay on rope at our gym, you must have either a belay certificate card or a top rope card. This also applies if you are going to belay children.
We hold weekly tests for those who want to take belay certificate card (brattkort) or top rope card (topptau kort). Book a test by pressing "påmelding"
To get ready for the test, we recommend a basic course, if you don't already have the necessary skills. More information below.
If you want to learn how to belay, you can sign up for one of our basic courses. The course is for those who want to take belay certificate card (Brattkort) and to be able to lead climb and secure others on all indoor walls in Norway.
Time: Saturday and Sunday from 12.00-15.30.
Equipment: Can be borrowed and is included in the price (attendance 15 min before the course starts).
Climbing partner: Not necessary.
Criteria: The participant must be 13 years or older. Parents must provide consent for participants under the age of 18. The course is usually in Norwegian, but can be in english as well. After completing the course you get two weeks free climbing to practice belay technique. The belay sertificate card test (Brattkort test) is included in the price and can be booked from two weeks after the course.
Number of participants: 12
Price: 1400 NOK.

We also have other types of courses for those who want to take climbing to the next level. The courses are usually conducted in Norwegian. Send us an email if you want to participate.
Technique course (Level 1 or 2. )
Progression group (level 5a - 6a+ or level 6a+ - 6c) You need to have a belay certificate card (brattkort) and the course is mainly focusing on lead climb/ top rope.
Rules for refund on all courses:
Cancellation more than 7 days before the start of the course: Full refund. Cancellation 2 - 7 days before the course starts: You get half the refund back. Cancellation the day before the course starts: No refund
Climbing with children/Family
Climbing is an excellent family activity, and at Tromsø climbing gym we welcome all ages! Children under the age of 13 must be supervised by adults, but can try their hand at both rope climbing and bouldering. We also have a small bouldering wall for children.
Tromsø Climbing Club also arranges family climbing on Saturdays. This is called "Familieklatring". Every Saturday from 10 AM- 12 PM there will be instructors to guide the adults to belay the children. Please tell the reception that you are attending "familieklatring" when paying.
We also have organized training groups for children and youth. Send us an email if your child wants to join.
Climbing equipment
If you do not have your own equipment, you can rent everything you need to climb. We also sell a selection of climbing equipment if you want to have your own. Prices for equipment rental can be found below.
Route information
Tromsø Climbing gym uses «Vertical Life» so that you always have access to an updated overview of rope and bouldering routes. By downloading the «Vertical Life» app and typing «Tromsø klatresenter», you always know where to find the newest and hottest routes in the climbing facility.
Membership at Tromsø Climbing Club
As a member of Tromsø Climbing Club, you support the club's work for a better climbing offer, both inside and outside, in Tromsø and the surrounding area!
Prices:
Children and youth: kr. 50,-
Adults*: kr. 250,-
Family**: kr. 500,-
*You are considered an adult from the calendar year you turn 19.
**Family membership applies for 2 parents with 1 to 3 children, or 1 parent with 1 to 4 children.
For families with more than 5 individuals, additional child memberships must be purchased per child in addition to those included in the family membership.
N.B. Membership is valid in calendar year. (january-December)
Membercard and benefits
When the membership fee is paid, you will have a membership card available through the app "Min idrett". Show your membership card trough the app in the store to get the discount.
